Huntin' Dog!
Now that Regen is feeling better, he's really showing off his hunting instincts. He will make someone a great hunting partner. This is a high energy boy who enjoys being outside patrolling the yard for birds and squirrels. I have a doggie door at my house so Regen is becoming used to going in and out at his leisure. I've been crating him when I leave the house and as long as I encourage him with a treat, he goes into the crate easily and has been laying down looking calm when I've gone to let him out.

Even Luckier!
Now I know why Regen wasn't particularly interested in playing when he first arrived at my house! We spent some time at the animal emergency vet on Wednesday evening because Regen had been vomiting all day. Turns out the poor boy had a blockage in his large intestine. No wonder he was so "mellow!" He was feeling puny! I'm happy to report that Regen is free of his blockage and no surgery was necessary. He is absolutely a brand new dog now! He is funny and playful and very very happy. My vet thinks he's only 1-2 yrs old and his behavior is most definitely "puppy-like." He's doing very well in the house, he hasn't had any potty accidents. He's starting to play with toys and chew on things. I've discovered he's a shoe chewer so I am making sure to keep all my shoes out of his reach. He's very loving and affectionate and LOVES attention. This picture is Regen and his "foster sister" Lula having some cuddle time.

Lucky Dog
Regen is settling in at my house like he's lived here for years. He has met my male and female Vizslas, along with my
neighbors' dogs, so Regen has had 6 other dogs to play with over the past couple of days. So far he's not much of a "player," he prefers to just hang out and soak up the environment. He does, however, get excited when he sees a bird or a squirrel. He does not appear to have "dominant" behaviors and is getting along great with the pack.
At first I thought perhaps he hadn't been in a house before, he was extremely fascinated by the television. However, I came out of the bathroom yesterday to find Regan curled up in the middle of my unmade bed - so he must have known the bed is a nice cozy place to be!
Regen is very laid back. Last night he let me trim his nails, and clean his ears and his incision site. He's appears to be very trusting, in spite of his recent harrowing experiences. He appears to be house trained, we haven't had any accidents yet. He was crated yesterday while I was at work, though I know he prefers to be out with his foster brother and sister rather than in the crate.
My guess is that Regen is a youngster, 2 yrs or less.
Stay tuned for more developments as Regen gets used to his new (temporary) environment.
